Site Re-Launched!

There has been a plain and boring index page located at this url for the past two weeks, if not more…. Ive been extremley busy, but for the last week ive made time to get this website live and kicking again…

Ive been trying out numerous news publshing systems available on the web including Grey Matter, Pivot, Blogger, Pro Blogger and some third party scripts available from Hotscripts.com, i finally settled with Moveable Type, it is not only the most easy to use, it also has a great administration panel, it looks nice, the template tags its provides are next to nothing and it has alot of other handy features for running a news website. After going through 3 different designs and layouts, i decided upon this one because i thought it was clean, crisp and easy to use. I have had many people tell me already that this site now looks somewhat patriotic, that may be true, but im not American, im English so that is not the true purpose of the colours.

Ive also got a new FlashGuru logo, which you should see at the top of every page, hope you like it, it is supposed to represent the letters F and G, aswell as representing a community member/player hence the G becoming a stick figure to a certain extent.

The news is archived in 5 different ways, so that hopefully it is easy for people to find old posts, you can view all the articles, you can view articles listed by day, you can view articles listed by month, you can view articles listed by week and you can view articles according to their corresponding category. All of the news archives are easily accesible from the drop-down list on the top right hand side of every page.

You can now post comments to articles by viewing the individual article pages, you will first have to register with a valid email address.

Their is now a mailing list, which you can subscribe to when you register to post comments. The mailing list, is simply a way for me to contact or share information with my site members.

Some people may have been expecting a flash site, never fear, i try to keep my work and play seperate, this site is a high-traffic news portal, therefore i choose to use HTML as the medium for displaying my content here, my personal portfolio however, soon to be live at www.guy-watson.com will be a full flash website, as its purpose is to display my flash skills, experiments, resume, biography etc……

For the next few days, i will be porting over the old news from the previous sites, because some of that news is very valuable and at this very second implementing the search features into the site, so that users can search for articles. I am also implementing a daily digest system, which will allow users to recieve an email once per day, that contains the news from this website, for that day.
