I think comments are much useful on technical articles. You can always find different approaches to a common problem, even on ALA comments are one of the most important part of the site, with many different technical/pov contributes.

However good job, keep on going.

comments may be 98 percent noise, but it’s that 2 percent that makes them indisposable.

the comments that correct or improve a mistake in example code on a post, or reference other examples, or show improvements.

if still no faith; php.net’s comments are indispensible!

i think we can expect pv3d to go ‘bit mental for a while, sadly. it’ll go thru those classic phases of over-excitement, post-coital blues and then level out to a reasonable level. i know those phases have, like, proper academic names, the last one’s the ‘plateau of…’ something, can’t remember, the ajax dude jeremy keith knows all about it tho, ask him.

proper names notwithstanding tho, deffo get ready to be sick of seeing pv3d sites by some point later this year.

On certain blogs (say quasimondo, aral balkans and the soon to be defunct 5etdemi) there’s plenty worthwhile discussion on the posts. How to sort the wheat from the chaff without soaking up man hours I’m not sure - I guess if it was possible to implement a digg-esque system where the readers can vote up/down comments then perhaps you’d have the semblance of a self moderating system?
