Macromedia aquires eHelp

Macromedia has added a few more software tools to its line up: The company has closed its acquisition of California software maker eHelp shortly before Christmas. As a result, Macromedia now offers eHelp’s flagship products RoboHelp and RoboDemo as well as the PDF creation Utility RoboPDF, RoboHelp for FrameMaker, RoboInfo, RoboScreenCapture and the PowerPoint-to-Flash conversion tool RoboPresenter.

RoboDemo is known for its capability to record Onscreen-events such as the use of software and create interactive, Flash-based simulations and demonstrations. It also offers an export feature to Flash MX via an optional tool. You can download a 15-day trial of the software here.

RoboHelp is a well-known tool to create help systems from virtual any source and output help in up to eight different formats, one of them being FlashHelp. FlashHelp, originally introduced with RoboHelp Office X4 in May 2003, offers a Flash-based interface which is combined with XML-based data management. A trial version is available for download here.
