Changes are coming!

Thursday, January 31st, 2008

The past couple of months ive been stacked up with work, working on some fun projects for a change. Ive been doing alot of PaperVision3D and alot of Data Visualization, it seems every client is now finding some use for a 3d plane with video projected onto it. I really hope we don’t start to see too many sites made with PaperVision3D just for the sake of it, it kind of decreases its value and appeal.

All of this adds up to a lack of updates from me. I used to have a lot to say, and still do, but it was alot easier to post something that was unique and had some value, back in the days when there were only 4-5 flash blogs. Now it seems anybody that has ever bought a copy of Flash, has a blog, and there is alot of repetition throughout the Adobe blogging community, i dont want to be one of those sites, that posts “Adobe have released another update to the flash player”, along with the other 1000 blogs that post the same thing.

This year ive decided its time to put some effort back into this site for those dedicated readers that have stuck with me for so long. The feed is still averaging about 4000 readers, even though i havent posted in 2 months and the site still gets a heck of alot of traffic, even though my Google PageRank dropped from 8 to 5/6. Google changing my page rank, because i use text-link-ads doesnt appear to have affected the traffic, so im not sure what use page rank really has. I still appear near the top of most flash related search queries and i am still the 5th ‘guy’ on the whole internet, above guy richie, family guy and just below guy fawkes.

With that im going to turn this site into an article based site ala A List Apart or Flash Magazine. The site will re-designed and will return in a magazine format, the plan is to have an article per week minimum, but posts will be alot longer and alot more fruitful. I doubt i will ever stop posting small ramblings, so there will also be an ‘Asides’ section where i can post cool links etc..

Ive also decided that comments on blogs for the greater part, have no value. I very rarely see comments that add any value to a post (and i read alot of blogs). They are primarily used to post off topic questions, praise or abuse the author of a post and/or to sell viagra/weird fetish sites/penis enlargers and so on…. so im considering not having comments at all.
